Modern developer tools including containers, Kubernetes, programming language runtimes, CI/CD pipelines, and automation platforms are built primarily around Linux.

This makes Linux the obvious choice for hosting web applications, APIs, microservices, AI workloads, and SaaS platforms.

Its widespread adoption has also created a massive community that continually improves documentation, tooling, and software compatibility.

Linux and FreeBSD were built with different priorities.
